This folder should include:
* Prior college transcripts and
evaluations of those credits.
* Advisement checklists from
previous appointments with your advisor.
* Tentative schedules
for upcoming semesters.
* Any
other official paperwork received from the college
regarding academic standing and
decisions
affecting coursework or graduation. |

Coming prepared and on time for all
advisement sessions with your advisement folder, a list of
questions you need answers to, an appointment calendar to schedule
future advisement sessions, and an open mind with a readiness
to accept new information and ideas. |

Expect that your advisor will keep
information shared in the advising sessions confidential and
only release such information to others with your expressed,
written permission. |

Your advisor will not discuss sensitive or
confidential information via e-mail or phone, unless previously
agreed upon to follow up on an advising appointment. |

Make an appointment to discuss matters
in person with their advisor. This also implies that advisement
information will not be given via phone or e-mail unless previously
agreed upon in order to follow up on an advisement session. |

Expect that your advisor will do
all they can to be an advocate on your behalf and support you
in any way possible. |
|
Receive prompt, courteous and respectful
service delivered by well-trained staff that is knowledgeable
of the most current, up-to-date information. |
|
To receive advisement in an environment
that ensures caring, promotes respect, encourages fairness,
values active participation and that recognizes strength in
diversity. |

Evaluate academic advising programs
and individual advisors through established procedures, or
by discussing the issues directly with supervisors of the Academic
Advisement Center. This includes suggestions for strengthening
the advisement process to better serve your needs. |
