Web Courses
Course
materials presented on the Internet through the Biology Department's website
(and through Blackboard) are study guides, instructional videos, and other enhancements for courses traditionally taught in the
classrooms and laboratories at Kingsborough Community College. The information
and interactive exercises presented on the websites do not represent the
full programs of study for these courses. They are, in some instances, basic
facts, and, in some cases, expansions beyond the classroom materials and
are used by some but not all instructors in the department. The design of
the web exercises permits reviews of selected class materials in preparation
for exams, and can require students to do Internet research, traditional
library research, simple experiments at home, and to write reports and submit
them through email to their instructors. Written evaluations and grades
for submitted exercises are transmitted from professors to their students
through email. These virtual interactions, in addition to traditional course
evaluations, can improve students' grades, and improve information technology
skills that foster success at Kingsborough, 4-year transfer schools, and
professional life after formal schooling.
The following course websites are available directly on the KCC website::
