Further training in the basic communication skills in Spanish. Prerequisite: Spanish 1. The aim of this course is to continue the development of the language skills in their natural order: listening, speaking, reading and writing as started in SPA 1. The course has been designed to successfully cover the essentials of Spanish and contains a variety of exercises and activities to develop all language skills while providing a strong cultural base.

As a primary textbook we use Aventuras. Primer curso de lengua española , by Philip R. Donley, José L. Benavides, and Solivia Márquez.( Boston: Vista Higher Learning, 2003), an excellent text with interactive CD-ROM, audio CD and other tools that assist professors and students alike. In addition to the scheduled classes, a state of the art Language Laboratory, weekly professors’ office hours, cultural activities, and free tutorial services create a wide range of possibilities beyond the classroom for those students who want to achieve excellence in their learning process.
