President’s Weekly Messages to Students
It's sweater weather!
Monday, October 25, 2021
Dear KCC Students,
I don’t know about you, but this weekend, it finally hit me that it’s the season to start wearing a coat and a light sweater. That’s right, it’s officially sweater season! It’s also the season when we soon will set our clocks back one hour and gain one more hour of sleep in the morning. And it’s the season where we witness the leaves turn from green to yellow, red, orange, brown and then finally disappear on to the ground, leaving trees bare.
Someone once said that Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go. And we know sometimes you have to let some things go, so that you are able to reach for, grab and take what is meant for you.
I know that some of you who are reading this message had to let some things go in order to be here at Kingsborough pursuing your college degree. If you were ever told that you would be a failure or maybe you didn’t do as well as you wanted and are trying college again, you had to let go of your fear of failure. If you are the first in your family to go to college, you had to let go of the fear of the unknown. Or if you ever thought college wasn’t for you, or you thought you were too old to learn or earn your degree, you had to let go of the doubts that held you back.
I speak for the faculty and staff of KCC when I say that we are proud that you bravely let go. Continue to fall boldly into your future by falling into good study habits, friendships with your classmates, mentorship relationships with your professors, good habits like regularly checking your KCC email, going for tutoring when you need it, accessing college resources, and most importantly taking care of yourself.
KCC students, your season of success is right around the corner. Get ready, because when it comes, you will spring forth with power, your degree in hand and prepared for the next steps in your academic and professional journey.
We can’t wait to see you blossom into being an outstanding KCC alum and the leader that you were meant to be.
Continue to mask up and stay safe.
