RE: Call for Proposals for 2008-2009 President’s Faculty Innovation Awards
I am pleased to announce the criteria and dates for the 2008-2009 President’s Faculty Innovation Awards. This year, eight proposals were funded for up to $5,000 each, involving 11 faculty members
(See http://www.kingsborough.edu/announcement/President_Faculty_Awards.html
for the list of proposals funded since 2006.) Again, a total of $25,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year will be available. Awards of up to $5,000 will be made to successful applicants. Projects are eligible for support in the following areas:
-
use of innovative pedagogies and/or instructional technology in the classroom
-
research projects that involve faculty and students in a mentoring relationship
-
interdisciplinary collaborations
If you have such a project in mind and would like it to be considered for an award, please submit a project proposal of no more than five pages to the Kingsborough Center for Teaching and Learning, M391, kctl@kingsborough.edu, by March 14, 2008. Proposals should include:
- A description of the project and its intended impact on student engagement and learning
- An itemized budget for up to $5,000 and a timeline for implementation
- A plan for assessing the project’s intended impact on student engagement and learning
- A plan for presenting the project and its outcomes at a Faculty Forum
- A cover page with the name(s) and department(s) of the proposers
All proposals will be reviewed by the Faculty Awards Committee. Awardees will be announced on April 1, 2008.
I strongly encourage all faculty to think creatively and collaboratively, and I look forward to having our students benefit from the exciting work these awards are designed to support.
