CUNY EDGE

What is CUNY EDGE?

The mission of CUNY EDGE is to provide students who receive public assistance, through the New York City Human Resource Administration (HRA), with the supports necessary to achieve academic success, secure sustainable employment, and to become civically engaged members of society. CUNY EDGE promotes a culture of academic excellence and provides personal and career advisement services focusing on mental, social and emotional awareness; career readiness; and financial literacy that empower students to persist to graduation and prepare them for lifelong success.

How are students selected?

Students are identified by having an active HRA case. While in the program, students must maintain their active case. It is required that the students meet with their CUNY EDGE Advisor. Your CUNY EDGE Advisor will be responsible for completing your school letter, which serves as verification that you are actively participating in educational services. The school letter assists with child-care and transportation needs.

CUNY EDGE envisions a world in which all people have access to the educational opportunities and support they need to realize academic success, a sustainable career, and a brighter future. We commit to contributing to this vision.

CUNY EDGE’s mission is to help CUNY students achieve academic excellence, graduate on time, and find employment.

CUNY EDGE, formally known as the COPE program, has expanded its student services to provide new benefits and support for you! CUNY EDGE offers you:

  • Advisement on your classes and career
  • Seminars on ways to succeed in college and work
  • Cafeteria or bookstore vouchers for students who participate in the program
  • Connection to internship and job resources
  • Tutoring in various subjects

Additionally, CUNY EDGE has its own computer lab in T4-264 and hosts workshops and event, from the same location.

CUNY EDGE creates a sense of community by holding in-person campus events and cultural festivities. Furthermore, CUNY EDGE collaborates with other campus programs, including the Single Mothers Program, Jeremiah Program and PACE Program.  All of the programs provide additional services such as linkage to outside services for employment, housing assistance, financial literacy and emotional support.  Throughout the academic year, CUNY EDGE supports and recognizes students are excelling academically and holds graduation celebration, highlighting their academic achievements.  For more information, please contact the CUNY EDGE Office (T4-216 ext. 4660).
