Kingsborough Center for Advanced Technologies Training

Overview

KCATT
Kingsborough Community College is addressing the often daunting task of training faculty in the design and use of technology in all areas of instruction with its Kingsborough Center for Advanced Technologies Training (KCATT). The state of the art facility enables instructors to efficiently and effectively integrate technology into their instruction by providing support ranging from hands-on workshops to personalized guided instruction.

KCATT has both PC and iMac workstations equipped with scanners suitable for working with either documents or images. In addition, KCATT has a range of A/V digital production equipment and software for producing A/V presentations and podcasts, and converting older A/V materials to digital formats.

KCATT offers Kingsborough faculty:

  • Training with various academic technologies/software including BlackBoard, the 3M Digital Board, and Microsoft Office products;
  • Design and production assistance of multimedia materials;
  • Streaming technologies capture and distribution capabilities (video / audio conferencing, podcasting  and lecture capture)
  • e-Portfolio, Blog and Wiki development; and
  • Digital conversion and archiving of print and non-print materials.

KCATT works closely with the Kingsborough Center for Teaching and learning (KCTL) in supporting the teaching and professional development activities of Kingsborough faculty. KCTL offers several Faculty Interest Groups (FIGs) that are technology oriented.
