Integrative Seminar

Two seminars have been designed to facilitate integration in Career Focused Learning Communities. The Integrative Seminar in the Application of the Behavioral Sciences to the Human Services facilitates an integrative learning experience for students studying in Health Careers, Early Childhood Education, and Mental Health and Human Services; the Integrative Seminar in the Application of Behavioral Sciences to Career Development supports the same experience for students studying Accounting and Business Administration.

Seminars meet once a week for two hours and are facilitated by faculty. Students engage in activities that are designed to help them make multiple connections - i.e., between their linked courses, between course content and application in the real world, and between their own needs and goals and the demands and expectations of their courses and chosen fields. Such activities may include student reflective work, problem-based activities (PBL), off campus visits to professional sites, and presentations by professionals in the relevant fields.
