Biography

Matthew Gartner is an Associate Professor of English at Kingsborough, where he has taught in the English Department since 2001.  He participates in the learning community and the writing-across-the-curriculum programs, has served on numerous departmental and college-wide projects and committees, and oversees the English Department website.

Matthew has published on nineteenth-century American literature in Studies in American Fiction, The Nathaniel Hawthorne Review, American Literature, The New England Quarterly, and Studies in American Culture. Most recently, his essay "The Cultural Career of Longfellow's 'Paul Revere's Ride'" appeared in an essay collection, Reconsidering Longfellow (Fairleigh Dickinson Univ. Press, 2014).
