Kingsborough Community College will be holding its Forty-Second Commencement Program on Friday, June 8, 2007. The purpose of this letter is to answer certain questions you may have regarding Commencement and your participation in this exciting event. It is our hope that this information will help make this very special day a most memorable occasion for you, your friends and family, and the entire college community. WHO CAN TAKE PART IN THE JUNE COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES? For your name to appear in the Commencement Program you must have filed an application for a degree with the Registrar’s office by March 30, 2007. You will be notified by mail toward the end of May if deficiencies are found in any course work completed prior to the Spring semester. You will be notified in July if deficiencies are found in any course work completed during the Spring semester. If no deficiencies are found, you will not be notified. Please note that filing the necessary paperwork or taking part in the Commencement Exercises does not guarantee the awarding of a degree. WHO RECEIVES AN INVITATION TO THE COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES? To be able to join the Commencement “Line of March” you must be properly attired in the college cap & gown. August 2006 and January 2007 graduates, and June 2007 candidates for graduation must be fitted for, and order, caps & gowns at the College Bookstore between April 9 and May 4 at the following times: Monday – Thursday, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. There is no charge for the rental of the garment. However, a refundable $20 CASH deposit is required at the time of the fitting. Your $20 cash deposit will be returned to you when you return the cap & gown to the Bookstore. THE GARMENTS CAN BE RETURNED TO THE BOOKSTORE ANYTIME AFTER THE CEREMONY UNTIL FRIDAY, JUNE 22. GRADUATES RETURNING GARMENTS AFTER JUNE 22 WILL FORFEIT THEIR $20 DEPOSIT. WHEN DO I PICK UP MY CAP & GOWN? WHAT ARE THE PROCEDURES ON GRADUATION DAY? Your guests should go directly to the tent area found behind the MAC building in the amphitheater area. Graduates and candidates for graduation should proceed directly to the seawall alongside the Science Building. You will receive specific instructions upon your arrival at the seawall. Beautiful weather is the hallmark of Kingsborough’s outdoor Commencement Exercises. However: Following the ceremony, President Peruggi and the faculty and staff of Kingsborough Community College invite you and your guests to attend a reception in the U-building cafeteria in honor of the graduates. We are looking forward to celebrating this wonderful occasion with you on Friday, June 8. Sincerely, |
