The Kingsborough Honors Program offers highly motivated students who have a 3.20 or higher GPA with the opportunity to earn Honors notations on their transcript by participating in several different types of Honors academic experiences: 1) All-Honors sections of regular courses, 2) All-Honors sections of courses developed specifically for the Honors Program that involve participation in special programs, such as the National Model United Nations or the Salzburg Global Seminar, 3) non-Honors courses that contain an Honors Enrichment Component for students who opt to participate, and 4) Honors Contracts - independent research projects done under the supervision of a professor in a regular course. Students may also earn Honors credit by participating in Honors courses offered off-campus through special summer scholarship programs such as the Vassar College Exploring Transfer Program and the L.I.U. Global College Costa Rica Study Abroad Program. Students who earn nine (9) or more Honors credits will receive an Honors Program notation in the Commencement Booklet; those who earn eighteen (18) or more credits will be acknowledged as Presidential Honors Scholars and have a notation added to their transcript.

Students who participate in the Honors Program may register for upcoming winter/spring semester courses prior to their appointment date by contacting Honors Program secretary Mrs. Tzila Waksman or Ms. Helen-Margaret Nasser, Assistant to the Director, in the Honors House, room M377. Students can also contact the Honors Program counselor, Mrs. Jane Birzin. She is in the office every Monday and Thursday from 9:30-1:30 p.m.; she can also be reached on those days by phone at 718-368-5365, or by email anytime at Janebirzin@aol.com.
All students interested in taking an Honors course: 1) must see an academic advisor before they come to the Honors House to register, and 2) must also register for a developmental math course if they have not yet passed the CUNY math placement exam.
Students enrolling for the first-time must see Mrs. Waksman to receive an Honors Program designation in their E-Sims profile prior to registering.
Returning Honors students can register for Honors courses online on their own on or after their appointment date provided their Honor Program designation in E-Sims is active.
Students who do not participate in at least one Honors academic experience for a term will have their Honors Program designation deleted from their E-Sims profile. To be reinstated, they must see Mrs. Waksman prior to registering.
