What Makes This Conference Worth Your Time and Effort? We know you want compelling content quickly and more time to talk about it and make sense of it. And that’s what we have for you!
It’s Content-Rich This year we confront "The Public Health Leadership Imperative" - the "calling" we all have to be leaders simply by virtue of our commitment to building healthy communities. You'll get more information than ever on what it means to be a leader, what a leader is and isn't, how to take leadership in stride, and what it takes to be a great leader. Our ever-entertaining and informative "leadership mindset" expert, Richard Gitlin, has brand-new presentations with new ideas, insights, and illuminations! If you enjoyed his presentations in the past, you will be "wowed" by what he has to offer this year! And our afternoon workshops are opportunities to explore "The Leader As..." focusing on a variety of specific roles leaders play. Explore the pathway that appeals the most to you…and at the end of the day, pick up handouts from the other sessions so you can "get a taste" of all the roles required of effective leaders.
It’s Networking-Rich!  Our new format includes two solid hours of structured networking to guarantee you meet everyone you want to connect with. Our series of turbo-leadership roundtable discussions give you the chance to speak with experienced leaders about leadership opportunities, responsibilities, and challenges in a variety of health issues, work settings, and professions.Â
It is unique. The conference is unique in its focus on promoting health leadership development. What we do that’s different is to provide you with what may be the first forum in which you can recognize your leadership abilities, demonstrate the myriad of leadership opportunities available now and in the fast-approaching future, and to encourage you to take on those leadership roles.Â
It is inspirational as well as informative.. Throughout the day as you move from session to session, you'll experience a number of exciting and energizing "Aha!s". Our opening speakers, Courageous Leader panelists, roundtable discussion facilitators, and Leadership Pathways workshop presenters are remarkable women and men currently leading important health movements and initiatives…people whose passion, dedication, commitment, and achievements will touch and inspire you...and teach you what it takes.
It is multi-faceted. The conference offers presentations on the leadership imperative and the leadership mindset, Conversations with Courageous Leaders, roundtable discussions on leadership opportunities, responsibilities, and challenges in different work settings, professions, and health topics; Leadership Pathway workshops; and a vibrant new Call to Action closing that should leave you roused and ready to move forward as a leader.Â
Its local focus has global applications.. Though the conference highlights local issues and specifically promotes leadership development among Greater New York metropolitan area health professionals, the information, insights, and inspiration have universal relevance and applicability. We have attracted – and warmly welcome - participants from other regions, states, and countries!
Attendees love it!. In groups of new-found friends and colleagues, participants leave smiling and waving. Many have come back the following year to take different sessions. And what’s really great is that when they come, they bring colleagues, co-workers, and, best of all, their supervisors!
