The Director of Continuing
Education Programs is responsible for overseeing the operations of all
Continuing Education Programs. Programs include, but are not limited to,
evening and weekend adult programs, College for Kids, as well as contract and
grant-funded programs. The Director manages, supervises and evaluates the
work of Continuing Educations program coordinators, instructional staff,
college assistants and full time staff. He/She implements instructional
programs and activities, and interfaces with other units of the College.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure the smooth operation of
Continuing Education Programs, which includes oversight of logistics,
personnel and programs.
Recruit, interview and select
support and instructional staff for all Continuing Education program
activities, including hiring faculty and coordinators for the administration
of all programs.
Monitor and evaluate the
performance of all Continuing Education personnel (part-time and full-time);
design and implement staff development activities.
Strategic planning for changing
needs regarding space and facilities.
Responsible for space
allocation, alignment of OCE calendar with credit calendar, allocating and
scheduling staff hours.
Operationally implement
contracts and grants relating to on and off campus programs and sites.
Interface with key College
personnel to integrate non-credit Continuing Education programs with credit
programs on campus.
Interface with managers on
program development and production of the catalog.
Collaborate with Evening Studies
to efficiently utilize computer classroom and computer lab space.
Together with the Grant/Contract
directors, hire instructional and support personnel as well as facilitate the
necessary paperwork needed to execute Federal, State, City and private grants
and contracts.
Coordinate Continuing Education
activities (such as open house) with College personnel, community agencies
and organizations.
Monitor and interpret inventory
lists and controls, enrollment data, course attendance records and personnel
time sheets.
Facilitate the purchasing of
suitable diagnostic tests, textbooks, materials, and other instructional
resources.
Supervise the staff in the
maintenance of the records of the Office of Continuing Education; interface
with the College Human Resources Office; and monitor adherence to federal
regulations and affirmative action guidelines.
Review budget data on all
instructional and non-instructional personnel; forecast requirements; and
monitor allocations.
Supervise the administration of all
registration procedures on a quarterly basis. Select, train and supervise
registration personnel.
Other related duties as
assigned.

Baccalaureate degree required,
masters degree preferred. A minimum of six (6) years of related experience
required. Must have strong administrative, organizational, management skills.
Must be detailed oriented, have strong supervisory, planning and
multi-tasking skills. Must be service oriented and have excellent
communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a team
structure is required. Computer skills include MS Office (Word, Excel,
Access, Explorer), knowledge of an enrollment system (CERS preferred)
helpful. Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
