Lexis-Nexis is an electronic database that contains full-text articles from over
5,900 news, business, legal, medical, and reference publications. This research guide will show you how to
search Lexis-Nexis for business news
covering the following sources:

Business and Finance
includes important business news magazines such as Business Week, Crain’s
and The Economist.
·
Industry News contains
articles from trade journals that focus on a specific line of business. Examples include Automotive News, Bestwire
(insurance industry), and Ward’s Auto
World.
·
Knight Ridder and Tribune Business News Service consists of business news articles from the Miami-based
publisher Knight Ridder, Inc., and the Chicago-based publisher Tribune
Company. Titles include the Detroit Free Press and the Chicago Tribune.
Go to Internet
Explorer. Type in the Web address http://libraries.cuny.edu. Select E-Journals
& Reference Databases.
Choose Lexis-Nexis from the
menu options appearing on the left side of the page under “Full Text.” For on campus access, click on the yellow square. From off-campus, click on the green house
icon and type in the library barcode from your Kingsborough ID card.

Step One:
Select Business News
Step Two:
Select Business & Finance, Industry News, or Knight Ridder/Tribune
Busniess News Service.
Step Three: Enter search terms in the rectangular
boxes. The Lexis-Nexis database will
search for your keywords in the headline, lead (first) paragraph and index
terms.
Step Four: Select a date range
using the drop-down box or enter date range in MM/DD/YYYY format.
Step Five: Leave blank unless you
want to search in a specific publication.
Click on the red search
button.
Browse the document list to find headlines for
articles that match your topic.
Click on the red hyperlink to view
the complete summary.
Use the red print button to print
the summary.
