Finding Newspaper Articles in the Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal is the leading newspaper in the United States that covers business and economics.  Lexis-Nexis (an online database) contains summaries for articles that have appeared in The Wall Street Journal since 1989.  To locate the complete article, request the newspaper or microfilm for older editions at the Periodicals Desk on the 3rd floor of the Robert C. Kibbee Library.  The Library has The Wall Street Journal from 1979 to the present.

 

Steps for Searching Lexis-Nexis for The Wall Street Journal Articles

 

Step One: Enter Database

Go to Internet Explorer.  Type in the Web address http://libraries.cuny.edu.  Select E-Journals & Reference Databases.  Choose Lexis-Nexis from the menu options appearing on the left side of the page under “Full Text.”  For on campus access, click on the yellow square.  From off-campus, click on the green house icon and type in the library barcode from your Kingsborough ID card.

 

 

Step Two: Setup Search

Click on  tab and follow each step.

Step One:  Select General News

Step Two:  Select Abstracts.

Step Three:  Enter search terms in the rectangular boxes.  The Lexis-Nexis database will search for your keywords in the headline, lead (first) paragraph and index terms.

Step Four: Select a date range using the drop-down box or enter date range in MM/DD/YYYY format.

Step Five: Type  "Wall Street Journal" in the rectangular box.

Click on the red search button. 

 

Step Three: Select Articles

                Browse the document list to find headlines for articles that match your topic.

            Click on the red hyperlink to view the complete summary.

            Use the red print button to print the summary.

 

Step Four: Locate the Complete Article

 

Go to the Periodicals Desk on the 3rd floor and request the newspaper or microfilm.
