Using Academic Search Premier
Academic Search Premier is a large, scholarly,
multidisciplinary database with full text for nearly
4,650 publications, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles
to 1975 or further are available for more than 100 journals and searchable
cited references for more than 1,000 titles.
Accessing Academic Search Premier
1.
Go to the Kibbee Library Web page URL: http://www.kbcc.cuny.edu/kcclibrary/
2.
Bring your
cursor to “Electronic Databases and Services” and then click on Alphabetical
List of Databases

3.
Click
on “Academic Search Premier (EBSCO).” If
you are off campus, you will be required to type in your library barcode. Remember to activate your barcode each
semester at the Circulation Desk to be able to use databases from off campus.
Enter your search
1.
Enter
search terms into the “Find” keyword boxes.
2.
Use
drop down menus on the right to limit your terms to specific fields, or leave
as is (“Select a Field - optional”) to search all fields.
3.
Combine
terms using “and,” “or,” or “not” by using the drop down menu on the left.
Apply limits to search
1.
Limiting
is a way to tailor and reduce your search results to specific types of
articles.
2.
You
can limit results to full text articles, scholarly (peer reviewed) journals, date,
etc. Standard useful limits are peer
reviewed journals and/or full text articles.
View results
1. To view the extended
citation, including abstract and subject headings, click on the blue underlined
title of the article.

Full Text indicates
the full text of the article is available. This format is a Web page with links and is
preferred by those who like to click and browse. Click icon to access.
3, A
PDF Full Text icon
PDF
Full Text indicates the whole article is available in PDF format,
which is an exact replica of the print version.
Click icon to access.
4. The
Linked Full Text icon
Linked
Full Text indicates the full text may or may not be available. Click this link to see. If not, check CUNY+ to see if Kingsborough
owns a print version of the journal and, if so, make a copy of the article.
Printing, emailing, or downloading
1.
For
one record at a time, display
the extended citation or, if available, full text.
2.
Choose
the print, email, or save option, and follow instructions.
3.
For
more than one record, you may also choose the “Add to folder” option to
retrieve them all at once.
