FINDING INFORMATION ON THE TURN OF THE SCREW Using CUNY+ InCUNY+ (the online catalog for books), use the pull-down menu to do a subject search for the author to find books about the author and his work. Type the last name first (i.e., james henry) Using E-journals and Databases (http://www.kbcc.cuny.edu/kcclibrary/DBLibrary/alphalist.php) The following databases may be useful 1.Academic Search Premier (Ebsco) - may have fulltext of journal articles, including those in Studies in Short Fiction. Search for james and (turn of the screw) 2. Magill OnLiterature Plus (Ebsco) has fulltext articles, including plots summaries, character analyses, and literary criticism. 3. InfoTrac Literature Resource Center/MLA - a collection of databases, including Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism Select, Dictionary of Literary Biography, selections from Children's Literature Review, Classical and Medieval Literature Criticism, Drama Criticism, Drama for Students, Literature from 1400 to 1800, Nineteenth‑Century Literature Criticism, Literature of Developing Nations for Students, Novels for Students, Poetry Criticism, Poetry for Students, Shakespearean Criticism, Shakespeare for Students, Short Story Criticism, Short Stories for Students, and Twentieth‑Century Literary Criticism. Also included is a database of 140 fulltext journals, the Merriam Webster Encyclopedia of Literature and links to selected literary websites. . CUNY has also purchased the MLA Bibliography. If you use advanced search you can find specific themes, such as psychological or ghosts. Important: Do not overlook the Gale Literary Index which gives a list of the Gale print sources on the work. 4. J-Stor - a limited collection of journals, all fulltext. It includes many articles on Turn of the Screw, including the Roellinger article. Choose Advanced Search and use the Language and Literature category. 5. Project Muse includes fulltext articles from literary journals. Use “turn of the screw” as your subject. 6. In Essay and General Literature Index do a subject search for the author. Essay and General Literature Index will help you to find chapters of books that may be relevant. Go back to CUNY+ to find out if Kingsborough has the book and what its call number is. 7. Humanities Index and Humanities and Social Sciences Retrospective can be used to find articles on literature. Click on Humanities Index on the list of databases.
