REFERENCE

Mission

The mission of Robert J. Kibbee Library’s reference department is to assist library patrons in learning to use the resources of the library.  Every person who comes to the reference desk can expect to be treated with respect and courtesy and to have his/her information request answered in a professional manner.  As an academic library, all of our activities are focused on teaching our patrons to find information and to use it ethically and effectively.  We adhere to the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) of the American Library Association’s standards for information services.

The reference desk is staffed by a professional librarian whenever the library is open.  Some reference inquiries can also be answered on the phone (718 368-5632).
