Smiles For Youngsters for the Holidays

It was a special day for youngsters at the Kingsborough Community College Child DevelopmentCenter, where dozens of children met NYS Senator Roxanne Persaud for the first time and received holiday toys from KCC President Dr. Claudia Schrader.

The children, ages 18 months to 9 years old, wore pajamas and played games at the annual Winter Wonderland Pajama Party and Holiday Gift Giving, launched by Schrader in 2018.

“This time of year is a favorite for children because they all enjoy receiving new toys," said Schrader. "Seeing the kids smile as they unwrap their toys is the best part.”

KCC’s Child Development Center offers high-quality, low-cost, on-campus childcare for children of KCC students, as well as parent education and academic support. In addition, they are an official Department of Education 3-K and 4-K site. Registration to the DOE program is open to the public.

The center's primary goal is to provide a rich educational experience with the objective of stimulating the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each child. The children participate in hands-on learning activities including arts & crafts, cooking, literacy, math, and science. They are also provided a safe, nurturing environment while their parent(s) attend classes, internships, and field work.
