Professor Anthony DiLernia will conduct a professional development workshop for approximately 30 teachers from the D.O.E. to help them prepare their students for the Farming at Sea Conference which will be held at Kingsborough Community College on December 9.

College Planning/ Financial Aid Evening

College Now students and their parents are invited to Kingsborough to learn to make wise decisions with respect to selecting and paying for a college education. Two speakers, who are experts in the college planning and college transition process, Professor Jennifer Skala from the Department of Student Development and Mr. Ted Timmons, the college counselor at Franklin K. Lane High School, will co-lead the workshop. Refreshments will be served.

College Now student Advisory Board Workshop on Public Speaking

College now students who serve on the program’s Student Advisory Board, their parents and members of the community college, are invited to attend a two-hour workshop devoted to the topic of how to make a speech in front of a large audience with confidence. Professor Sam Taitt from the Department of Communications and Performing Arts will conduct the workshop. Refreshments will be served.

The college community is invited to join College Now students enrolled in the program’s business course to a screening of Supersize Me. Dr. Robert Singer from the English Department, who is a film expert and the Film Festival host, and Dr. Fred Mayerson from the Business Department, will conduct a pre and post discussion with the audience about how products are marketed in America. Refreshments will be served

See a CPR demonstration, sponsored by Heart Smart. Have your blood glucose and blood pressure checked. NY Methodist Hospital will be accepting blood donations. Get a vision screening and/or OB/GYN consultation. Meet with a facial and skin consultant. Participate in a 'Be Fit and Have Fun' jump rope competition!
