| Wave Athletics would like to congratulate the men’s basketball team on winning the CUNY Championships. The half time score was 29-26 KCC ahead, the final score was 69-55.
This is the 7th CUNY Championship Title for the KCC men’s basketball team. They hold the record for the most CUNY Championship titles amongst community colleges.
The team received the CUNY Championship trophy and the Steven Weingard memorial trophy.
This is the first time as head coach, Hassan Duncombe has won the CUNY Championship. He has previously won the championship three times as an assistant coach.
Chris Garrick was named Most Valuable Player with 21 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.
Romel Benoit and Idris Agbaje were selected for the CUNY All Tournament team.
From the KCC Women’s Basketball Team, Destiny Young was selected for the CUNY All Tournament team.
At the CUNY Banquet held on Thursday February 16, 2006, Romel Benoit was named the CUNY Player of the Year. Chris Garrick, Cortensia Davis, and Shauntae Ellis were named CUNY Athletics All-Stars.
The men’s team hopes to continue their success and be able to compete in the Region XV Regional Tournament.
