 Where : Kingsborough Community College- Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn- Beautiful Marine Academic Center Overlooking Atlantic Ocean

 Who : Commissioner Guillermo Linares, of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, Kingsborough President, Dr. Regina S. Peruggi

 Brooklyn N.Y. - The beautiful view from Kingsborough Community College’s Marine and Academic Center Rotunda will be the backdrop on Tuesday morning, June 28, 2005, for the Spring 2005 Concert and Awards Ceremony for the English Literacy and Civics Program (EL/Civics Program). Completing its third program year at Senior Centers in Brooklyn, NY, EL/Civics has served over 900 Senior Citizens, teaching English as a Second Language, American music and Civics, and encouraging immigrant Senior Citizens in their efforts to become US Citizens. Kingsborough Community College’s Office of Continuing Education provides the instructional components of the EL/Civics Program, made possible by a grant from NY State Education Department to the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island. Inc.

The June 28 th program, which will begin at 10:30 AM at the MAC Rotunda at Kingsborough, will feature Commissioner Guillermo Linares, of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, as Keynote Speaker. In addition , their will be performances by the Choirs of AMICO Senior Center, JASA Manhattan Beach Jewish Center, Harbor Hill Senior Center and Haber House, singing a medley of American folk and popular music with musical accompaniment.

Dr. Saul W. Katz, Dean of Continuing Education, will introduce the President of Kingsborough Community College, Dr. Regina Peruggi, who will present special Certificates to those Senior students who have recently become US Citizens. Awards will also be given to all Senior Citizen students who have completed the EL/Civics program.
