About the Campus
Bounded on three sides by water – the Atlantic Ocean, Jamaica Bay and Sheepshead Bay – Kingsborough enjoys a spectacular natural setting. Graceful architecture has added to the natural beauty. Kingsborough boasts a number of special facilities. They include:
- A recently opened (Fall 2003) “Academic Village,” which is the new home for the College Now Program and for several academic programs. It also includes classrooms, computer labs, a distance learning facility, early childhood education workshops, and a child care center.
- A College Marina that is the home of the college’s Maritime Technology Program.
- Two gymnasiums and an indoor pool.
- The 743-seat Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center and the 300-seat Playhouse.
- A 1,600 square foot Art Gallery.
- An Aquarium.
- The Marine and Academic Conference Center, a 12,000 square foot facility that is the site of numerous community and university-related events.
- The Robert J. Kibbee Library and Media Center, containing over 150,000 items.
- Eighteen general purpose instructional computer labs with more than 500 work stations and approximately 200 computer work stations in specialized instructional facilities.
- A computerized testing facility with more than 150 stations.
- An 800-student capacity N.Y.C. Department of Education High School.
