Applying for/Renewing Your Financial Aid for 2008/2009

If you are continuing your studies during Fall, 2008 and/or Spring, 2009, you should apply/reapply for financial aid immediately.

By applying now, you will have a chance to be considered for the limited funds awarded through the campus-based aid programs: F.W.S. (Federal Work-Study), F.S.E.O.G. (Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grant) and Federal Perkins Loan – as well as Pell Grant and TAP.

The ONLY website you should use to renew your aid is at:  www.fafsa.ed.gov

By using a worksheet first, you can assemble your data before you sit down to do the application, data input online.

Important:

PLEASE… exercise care by including your apartment number in your complete address.  Without it, the post office will be unable to deliver your mail.

All applications must be signed:  Dependent students must submit student and parent signatures.  Independent students must submit their signatures.  In either case, the signature may be submitted using the “pin” system or by printing off a signature page from the FAFSA application process and mailing it to the appropriate address.

DO make use of your Kingsborough, assigned e-mail address.  If not, please enter another active e-mail address without “www”.  Please do not share an e-mail address with another student or family member.

TAP:  Finally, make sure you do not rush the application.  In FAFSA Step 9 you will see a link to complete the TAP questions.  Make sure you click on the link which follows the sentence, “If you would like to apply for state aid, click here.”  To skip this step will cause you significant  TAP, processing delays.
