We are very glad that you have chosen Kingsborough Community College as the place to advance your education. We believe our college is the most outstanding community college in the City University of New York (CUNY) system. We are the best because of students like you. Our students are outstanding thinkers, highly motivated learners and some of the most enthusiastic students of any college campus.

All of the people that work in the Department of Student Affairs are committed to student success from pre-enrollment to graduation and transfer. We are student centered and responsive to the distinct challenges of the Kingsborough student. We recognize and honor the unique journey that brings students to our college and we try to do everything possible to assist you in accomplishing your educational goals.

We encourage you to make this college, your college. Invest in the community, get involved! Join the clubs and organizations on campus. Run for elected office in student government. This campus is what you make it. Please join us in creating an environment that respects people across all races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, genders, abilities, religions, and socio-economic classes.

To begin, it is very important that every student understand that this Student Handbook sets forth the policies and codes of conduct that govern Kingsborough students. All students are urged to read the policies and codes of conduct contained in this handbook, which -- by virtue of enrolling at Kingsborough – you have agreed to uphold.

On behalf of the Student Affairs Department we wish you great success in your educational endeavors and thank you in advance for helping to make this a great new academic year!

Sincerely,

Paulette Dalpes
Dean of Student Affairs
