Welcome to Writing At Kingsborough Community College!
What is WAC?

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) is a nationwide reform movement initiated by faculty over twenty years ago to strengthen teaching and learning through the use of more writing. Within the writing-intensive approach to teaching, the process of writing is seen as an important tool for learning in all disciplines. The purpose of writing papers and taking essay examinations is not only to test students' communication skills and knowledge comprehension, but to develop their intellectual skills throughout the college years. Writing can also be used to support critical thinking and to teach unfamiliar concepts in all disciplines.

Everything about the WAC Initiative and Kingsborough—information about Writing Intensive courses, advice on writing assignments, links to related websites, how to work with Writing Fellows and more can be found on this website!

WAC is part of the CUE (Coordinated Undergraduate Education) Initiative under the supervision of Dean Reza Fakhari.
