Biography

Barbara A. Gattullo is a tenured Associate Professor in the Nursing Department at CUNY Kingsborough Community College.  She concurrently serves as a member of the Kingsborough Community College’s Association Committee, College Council and serves as the Nursing Department liaison for the Honors Program.  Professor Gattullo’s particular interests are medical-surgical nursing education with a clinical focus on diabetes and adult health.  Professor Gattullo continues to work as a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Educator in a local hospital on a per-diem basis.  In this role, she provides management and education services to the patient’s with appointment at the local facility. 

In this position, Professor Gattullo has mentored eight graduate masters students in both the practitioner and clinical specialist roles. Prof. Gattullo has previously taught associate degree, baccalaureate and masters degree nursing, both theory and clinical, at College of Staten Island, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Wagner College, Trinitas School of Nursing and St. Vincent’s Medical Center School of Nursing.  Professor Gattullo has and continues each semester to work closely with nursing students who have prepared and submitted honors projects for the Honors Program at the College.  She has mentored two students who successfully have had their work published in the Journal of Distinction at the college. 

Professor Gattullo continues to collaborate and monitor presentation tables at the College’s Honors Symposium. Professor Gattullo has mentored several graduate nursing students from St. Joseph’s College while on faculty at KCC. She is currently WAC certified and continues to teach courses that are WAC designated.
