Sheila Thimba
Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration

Sheila Thimba has served as interim senior vice president for administration and finance at Kingsborough Community College since January 2026. Reporting to the president, she provides leadership and oversight of the College’s administrative and operational areas, including finance, information technology, human resources, facilities and auxiliary services, and serves as a member of the president’s cabinet.

Thimba brings decades of experience in higher education administration, having held senior leadership roles at Harvard College of Harvard University, the School of Arts and Sciences Rutgers University, Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University. Earlier in her career, she worked in workforce development and training at the 1199 Training and Upgrading Fund and the CUNY Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center.

She holds a master’s degree in political economy from the New School for Social Research and a bachelor’s degree in English and economics from the College of Saint Elizabeth in New Jersey. She has also participated in a number of executive education programs, including a 14-month Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
