IS THE KBCC PARAMEDIC PROGRAM ACCREDITED?

The KBCC paramedic program is institutionally and programmatically accredited by the Commission on accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), and recognized by the NYS department of Health (NYSDOH) Bureau of EMS.

WHERE ARE CLINICAL ROTATIONS HELD?

Clinical experiences are available for all enrolled students as they progress to that portion of the program. Clinical Education is an integral part of the paramedic program. It allows the student to develop the concepts and skills taught in the classroom and apply them to patients in a clinical setting. Skills are learned in the classroom, demonstrated in the laboratory and are refined in the clinic. Working alongside qualified clinical staff with real patients provides students with the opportunity to develop confidence, become competent in their skills, and accustomed to the healthcare environment they will ultimately seek to work in. KBCC Paramedic Program is proud of its strong clinical affiliates, which includes NYU Langone, Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Brookdale Hospital Medical center and Maimonides Medical center just to name a few.

CAN I APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM AS A CERTIFICATE ONLY TRACK STUDENT?

Applicants can choose between a degree track or a certificate track. Certificate only track students should apply through the continuing education department and enroll as a continuing ed students. Such applicant will need a valid NYS EMT certificate and a high school diploma or GED to be considered.

WHAT ARE THE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM ADMISSION REQUIREMENT?

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older prior to orientation.

Applicants must be in good mental and physical health, free from any physical handicaps which would interfere with their work. Ultimately, individuals must meet the Technical Standards for Admissions listed on the NYSDOH web page.

Applicants must have completed a recognized high school or equivalent.

Applicants must have current NYS EMT certification (must be valid for the duration of the program).

CAN I JOIN THE KBCC PARAMEDIC PROGRAM IF I ONLY HAVE A NATIONAL REGISTRY CERTIFICATION?

KBCC paramedic program is recognized by the NYS DOH BEMS, despite that the program is nationally accredited and graduates are eligible to take the national registry certification exam, NYS certification or reciprocity is required.

CAN I TAKE THE CERTIFCATE PROGRAM AND COME BACK LATER TO OBTAIN MY DEGREE?

Certificate program graduates are eligible to come back and complete the associate degree requirement, core classes of the paramedic program grants it graduates a total of 34 credits applied towards the associate degree.
