REPORTS AND DATA

Every year, Achieving the Dream asks participating colleges to report on their progress in student success and equity.  The following are summaries of Kingsborough's annual reports:

2016-17

The 2017 ATD relaunch, which was part of the Spring Convocation program, provided an opportunity to showcase ATD efforts to the campus, and to introduce our new focus on equity.  A full year into shifting our emphasis from equality to equity, student outcomes are beginning to show the effects of our efforts. As an example, student graduation and retention rates have continued to rise for all demographic groups.  More importantly, meaningful cultural change is beginning to take hold, as conversations around campus are increasingly centered on issues of equity.  Discussions about program planning reflect a similar conceptual evolution.

2015-16

Kingsborough successfully obtained reaffirmation of its institutional accreditation from Middle States, and secured national accreditation for its A.A.S. Nursing program as well. The college's effort to address concerns about educational equity became central to campus-wide work.  The stand-alone equity taskforce was discontinued, and its efforts were incorporated into all substantive initiatives.  In doing this, ATD work has reinforced the campus community's commitment to equity of outcomes (as opposed to equality of access) as a college-wide goal.

2014-15

The college was recognized as an ATD Leader College as a result of improved outcomes brought about by the Learning Communities program and other innovations such as ALP and Math Boot Camps. Academic support was reinforced through the reconstitution of Center for Academic Writing Success and the Tutoring and Academic Support Center.  Academic Affairs and Student Affairs collaborated to initiate department-specific advisement in STEM disciplines. 

2013-14

The structure provided by ATD supported our adaptation to new leadership from a position of strength.  Our focus on evidence-based decision-making and participatory strategic planning allowed us to meet these challenges while continuing to develop innovative strategies to foster student success. The implementation of ALP, CUNY Start, and Summer Math Boot Camps resulted in significant student progress in achieving college readiness.  In addition, disaggregation of data and information became central to all campus efforts as we focused our attention on addressing service gaps.
