- What is the Immersion Program?
- Kingsborough's Immersion Program offers new students the opportunity to increase their
skills in Math and English before they begin taking credit-bearing courses at Kingsborough
through intensive, 2-3 week classes.

- The Immersion Program is completely free.

- When in the school year do Immersion classes take place?
- Immersion classes are offered during the Winter Session (January - February) and Summer
Session (July - August) each year.

- What subjects are taught in the Immersion Program?
- KCC's Immersion Program offers classes in Math and English.

- How long does an Immersion class take?
- Typically, Math Immersion classes occur 4 days per week for half of the day over approximately
3 weeks. English classes occur 4 days per week for approximately 2 1/2 hours per day
over approximately 10 days.

- What is the typical class size for Immersion classes?
- Immersion classes include approximately 20 - 25 students.

- Where do Immersion classes take place?
- Immersion classes are mostly conducted online in a synchronous Each semester we try to offer a small number of 100% in-person classes in Math.

- How does successfully completing an Immersion class at KCC help students?
- Student who pass their Immersion class are then able to take a stand-alone credit
Math or English class At CUNY, ALP (also called corequisite) classes are more expensive
because you’re enrolled in both a credit course and a non-credit support class at
the same time. That means you pay for two classes. A regular stand-alone credit class
costs about $630, but an ALP class can cost around $1,260.

- Who are the Immersion Program professors?
- Immersion Program professors are typically adjunct professors with significant history
teaching their subject to college students.

- How do I register for an Immersion class at KCC?
- Registration for an Immersion class takes place after meeting with an Academic Advisor.
However, students may register on their own by emailing us at Immersion@kbcc.cuny.edu.

- Do Immersion classes give credit?
- Immersion classes are non-credit bearing, and are designed to help students increase
their Math and/or English skills BEFORE they take English or Math classes for credit.
