2026 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Semifinalist
Myat Khine “Daisy” Zan ’26 is an international student from Myanmar who came to the United States about a year ago to study and pursue acting. “Studying abroad and taking this huge step was the best decision of my life. It has helped me grow and become stronger,” she said. “Ironically, I came here to get a degree in business administration, as I love management. However, I saw the performing arts center and decided to persue what my heart really desired.”
Daisy is the Student Government Association’s vice president of student affairs, a member of the Honors Program, vice president of KCC’s Theater Club and former vice president of the Film Club. She has performed in KCC theater productions and recently participated in the American College Theater Festival, which has provided her with internships, workshops and opportunities to improve her craft. She plans to apply to NYU, Brooklyn College, or Marymount Manhattan College to major in theater or performing arts.
“Being the only woman of Rakhine ethnicity from Myanmar recognized has an immense impact on my community back home,” she said. “I am a girl who knows how to grab opportunities, but it was Kingsborough that offered the best things for me.”
