WAC for Writing Fellows

Kingsborough is honored to host advanced doctoral candidates from the Graduate Center each year as part of its Writing Across the Curriculum program. The primary responsibility of a CUNY Writing Fellow at KCC is to support our goal of raising consciousness about writing and its role in instruction throughout the college. A student who elects to spend an academic year at Kingsborough can expect...

  • An intensive teaching practicum experience resulting in the creation of a course portfolio.
  • The support of a collegial group of Fellows from many different disciplines in weekly meetings.
  • Collaborative work with KCC faculty from many disciplines.
  • Work with students from writing intensive and Honors sections on their assignments.
  • The option to make a contribution to the program depending on his own interests and abilities.
Additional reasons for working at Kingsborough include,
  • A spectacular setting at the tip of Manhattan Beach on Sheepshead Bay.
  • A cafeteria that opens up onto a beach and an office near a shark tank.
  • Proximity to interesting immigrant neighborhoods with great shopping.
  • Membership in an institution designated one of the top four community colleges in the nation.
