Addiction Studies Program

Credentialed Addiction Studies Programs:
A.S. Degree in Addiction StudiesAddiction Studies Certificate

Have you considered a career as a Addiction Studies Counselor?

Do you want to earn college credits while completing approved education classes that will help you to qualify for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) examination?

* Our program provides preparation for the CASAC-Trainee (CASAC-T) certificate from the New York State - Office of Addiction Services & Supports (OASAS).

We offer a total of seven core courses, which cover the areas of expertise for addictive disorders counseling required by the Office of Addiction Services & Supports. Students who successfully complete this core are eligible to participate in two supervised internships in an Office of Addiction Services & Supports-licensed field setting.

Enrollment in the Addiction Studies Program is separate from the Mental Health and Human Services Program. The Addiction Studies Program is designed specifically to prepare students for a career in substance use and related addictive disorders counseling; successful completion of the entire course of study satisfies the educational requirements for the CASAC-Trainee certificate from the Office of Addiction Services & Supports. The courses also satisfy the course-specific requirements for the A.S. degree in Addiction Studies (Degree Requirements).
