Benefits of the CUNY Research Scholars Program

Scholars

  • Scholars will receive a $5,000 stipend, contingent on funding.
  • Elective course credits on their transcripts through enrollment in research courses CRSP over the course of one academic year.
  • Conduct 320 – 400 hours of faculty mentored research.
  • Opportunity to present research projects.
  • Producing a publication-quality research poster
  • Improving public speaking skills
  • Career development seminars and resume development

Mentors

  • Mentors will receive a $1,000 budget, per student, which can be used for research supplies and/or travel.
  • Each mentor will receive one hour of teaching credit for the Fall and one additional hour of teaching credit in the Spring semester, regardless of the number of students mentored.
  • Gain fresh perspective and insights from students while enhancing your leadership and other professional skills.
  • Contribution to your discipline by nurturing future professionals.
  • Opportunity to review research projects within your discipline and more.
  • Making an impact on a scholar’s educational experience and future career path.
  • Increase diversity, equity, and inclusion within your discipline.

Mentors (and co-mentors, if applicable) should be KCC faculty members.
