CUNY Cultural Corps

CUNY Cultural Corps is a career development program that places CUNY students in paid internships at cultural organizations throughout NYC. The program was started in collaboration with the NYC’s Department of Cultural Affairs as an effort to create more diversity and equity in NYC’s cultural sector. CUNY Cultural Corps works with a wide range of students. From art history majors looking to get a behind the scenes look at museum operations to accounting majors with a soft spot for the arts. The program work with all majors, backgrounds, and skill levels.
Pay Rate: $20/hr.

Office of the Mayor’s Summer Internship Program

The Mayor’s Office Internship Program provides participants with the chance to harness the tremendous opportunity of our city, all while helping to take on the challenges that our residents face and developing innovative solutions to build a better tomorrow. The Mayor’s Internship Program hosts interns and the internship program offer participants a paid opportunity to become embedded in a variety of NYC’s public sector offices, including International Affairs, Research and Media Analysis, Information Technology, and many more. Internships typically consist of three components: Work Assignment, Government Engagement, and Service Project.
Pay Rate: $17/hr. | Academic Credit Available

New York Amsterdam News Summer Internship

Intern positions are available in our editorial and digital departments. Amsterdam News interns must be located in the New York City area and have a passion for writing about the Black community. Interns will be required to participate in weekly video conference meetings with staff, editors, and the internship coordinator. Interns are provided with significant opportunities to boost their professional profiles plus ongoing references as they seek opportunities in media or other fields.
Pay Rate: $250/Stipend

The Office of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Summer Internship

Interns will work with staff to serve the constituents of New York’s 14th Congressional District. The goal is to provide each intern with a meaningful experience that will enhance their understanding of Congress. Intern responsibilities may include attending briefings and hearings, assisting staff with public events, administrative work as assigned, and researching legislation. Interns are able to work on either a part-time or full-time basis.
Pay Rate: $18 per hr.

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program (Fall)

Gain valuable work experience through paid internships at federal agencies nationwide such as NASA, USDA and the Library of Congress. HACU matches a student’s career interests, educational background, and previous work or volunteer experience with the needs and demands of our federal and corporate partners. Students receive paid round-trip airfare, housing arrangement assistance, emergency medical insurance, biweekly stipend, and attend an intern orientation. Throughout the internship, students also have the opportunity to participate in professional development, networking, and cultural activities.
Pay Rate: $17.75/hr.

LifeSci NYC

Led by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and its Life Sciences and Healthcare team, the City’s investment in life sciences will create, produce, and deliver dozens of new cures and treatments, generating thousands of new jobs for New Yorkers—making our city healthier and fairer. The program seeks to provide experience and training for students and recent graduates interested in pursuing careers in the life sciences industry, providing opportunities to work in a wide range of companies, from early-stage startups to large pharmaceutical and biotech firms.
Pay Rate: $16/hr.

Office of U.S. Senator Charles Schumer

Your interest in Senator Schumer’s internship program is a positive indication that you are an informed member of your community with a willingness to learn and contribute significantly to the Legislative branch of our government. This internship presents an opportunity for both a unique learning experience and an inside look at the political process. Applicants must be hard-working, have strong writing and communication skills and have a demonstrated interest in public policy. While applicants from all backgrounds will be considered, students from New York are strongly encouraged to apply. Interns in the state offices assist staff with constituent service work, our scheduling team or are press team. Paid internships are available to interns who have been accepted into the internship program and are able to certify financial need and meet eligibility criteria.
Pay Rate: $1,000 – $1,500 Stipend

The Borgen Project Internship

The Borgen Project have several internship and volunteer openings that may be of interest to you, these range from HR, PR/Marketing to writing and journalism. All internship and volunteer programs provide experience in advocacy, mobilizing and fundraising, coupled with real industry exposure and an insight into the nonprofit world. Borgen Project remote internships are work from home roles, weekly deadlines must be met, meetings will be held online and a weekly update of your progress submitted.
