Public Safety and Security
A Message from Chief Kenneth Greene of Kingsborough Community College Public Safety Department.
I am excited and honored to serve as Chief of the Public Safety Department. I am committed to making Kingsborough Community College a safer, more functional and better prepared campus for our faculty, staff, students and visitors alike.
The Department of Public Safety at Kingsborough Community College employs highly trained, full-time, sworn peace officers, college security assistant and an active support staff for the 24-hour protection of the campus. We have adopted a community policing, service-oriented philosophy that, we believe, promotes community and police partnerships, pro-active problem solving and community interaction to address quality of life and other issues.
Kingsborough Community College works continually to assess and upgrade its safety features to ensure we can maintain a positive working and learning campus environment. I encourage you to visit the Public Safety and Security website under the Quick links tab from the KBCC homepage. There you will find valuable information such as procedures for requesting a safety escort, crime prevention tips and preventing identity theft. For more information, you can also visit the KBCC Public Safety Office located in the library, room L202.

SECURITY IS EVERYBODY'S BUSINESS
Crime on campus can be significantly reduced if each person will take the time to properly secure personal and university property, to mark and record the make, model and serial number of personal possessions; to lock rooms and buildings when leaving; to always lock vehicles and take the keys; to observe and report suspicious persons or activities; and never to leave valuables unattended or unsecured. Cooperation is necessary for the successful prevention of crime. The Department of Public Safety offers a number of crime prevention programs to assist University students, faculty and staff in fighting crime on campus.
Questions regarding our Crime Prevention programs should be referred to:
